Nintendo Switch 2 Direct: April 2, 2025
After months of speculation and leaks, Nintendo unveiled their next-generation console. A short teaser trailer, released January 16th, showcased a sleek design retaining the hybrid functionality of the original Switch, but with significant upgrades. The teaser highlighted a larger display, a more robust kickstand, and magnetically connecting Joy-Cons—a departure from the original's rails. A new USB-C port on the console itself was also confirmed.
Backward compatibility is a key feature. Nintendo confirmed support for both physical and digital Nintendo Switch games, though some titles may have limited or no compatibility. Specific titles will be detailed later on the Nintendo website. Nintendo Switch Online functionality will also carry over.
While no exclusive titles have been officially announced, the trailer hinted at a new Mario Kart installment (possibly Mario Kart 9), and reports suggest Gotham Knights may be coming.
