Sydney Sweeney Stars in Split Fiction Film Adaptation
Sydney Sweeney, known for her role in *Madame Web*, is set to star in the upcoming movie adaptation of Hazelight's hit game, *Split Fiction*. The film, which is quickly taking shape under the guidance of video game adaptation specialists Story Kitchen, has also secured *Wicked* director Jon M. Chu to helm the project. The screenplay is being crafted by the talented duo behind *Deadpool & Wolverine*, Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. With this impressive lineup, Story Kitchen is now pitching the project to Hollywood studios, anticipating a competitive bidding war.
While Sydney Sweeney's involvement is confirmed, the specific role she will play—either Zoe or Mio—remains undecided, according to Variety. This adds an extra layer of anticipation as fans eagerly await more details on the casting.

*Split Fiction*, which only launched in March, has already proven to be a massive success for Hazelight and its designer, Josef Fares. The game sold over 2 million copies within its first week and is slated to be a launch title for the Nintendo Switch 2. IGN's review praised the game, awarding it a 9/10 and describing it as "an expertly crafted co-op adventure that pinballs from one genre extreme to another, Split Fiction is a rollercoaster of constantly refreshed gameplay ideas and styles – and one that’s very hard to walk away from."
Hazelight's success in the gaming world extends beyond *Split Fiction*. Their 23 million-selling game, *It Takes Two*, is also being adapted into a film, with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson potentially starring. While there's always the chance that these projects might not come to fruition, the current surge in successful video game adaptations suggests that Hollywood is eager to capitalize on this trend.
Story Kitchen, behind the *Sonic* films, is not stopping at *Split Fiction*. Last year, they announced a film adaptation of Square Enix's *Just Cause*, directed by Ángel Manuel Soto of *Blue Beetle* fame. Additionally, they are working on adaptations of *Dredge: The Movie*, *Kingmakers*, *Sleeping Dogs*, and even a live-action *Toys 'R' Us* movie.
Meanwhile, Hazelight is already teasing its next game, keeping fans excited about what's to come from the innovative studio.
