As of 2025, the Tomb Raider franchise encompasses a total of 20 games, divided into three distinct timelines, each with unique plotlines and variations on Lara and her supporting cast. Fourteen of these games were released for home consoles, six also supported handheld portable consoles, and six were available on mobile devices. Stand-alone titles like Tomb Raider: The Prophecy, Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light, Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris, Lara Croft Go, Lara Croft: Relic Run, and Tomb Raider Reloaded are not included in the lists below.
Which Tomb Raider Should You Play First?
Newcomers to the series in 2025 are advised to start with the 2013 reboot of Tomb Raider. This entry kicks off the "Survivor" trilogy, which spans through to the most recent mainline game, Shadow of the Tomb Raider from 2018.

For fans longing to revisit the classic Tomb Raider experience, Aspyr has released remastered collections for current-gen consoles. Tomb Raider I-III Remastered launched in early 2024, followed by Tomb Raider IV-VI Remastered in February.Crystal Dynamics is also hard at work on a new Tomb Raider game, set to be powered by Unreal Engine 5 and published by Amazon Games. While details are scarce, Crystal Dynamics has hinted on Twitter that this new installment will extend Lara Croft's saga, potentially continuing the narrative from the Survivor trilogy that concluded with Shadow of the Tomb Raider in 2018.
Beyond gaming, Netflix introduced the animated series Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft in October, which has been renewed for a second season. Meanwhile, a planned Amazon series with Phoebe Waller-Bridge as writer and executive producer appears to have been shelved.
