"Tribe Nine Ends EOS Support Shortly After Global Launch"
Akatsuki Games has made a shocking announcement regarding the end of service (EOS) for their latest game, Tribe Nine. Launched just a few months ago in February on Android, iOS, and PC via Steam, it's hard to believe the game is already facing its demise. Let's delve into the details of this unexpected closure.
When Is the Tribe Nine EOS?
Tribe Nine is set to officially shut down on November 27th, 2025. Alongside this announcement, Akatsuki Games has confirmed that Chapter 4 of the main story will not be released. This is particularly disappointing as the game had recently started to tease significant developments in the narrative. As of May 15th, all future updates, including new features, bug fixes, and content releases, have been canceled. This means any promised adjustments or new additions mentioned in earlier in-game notices are no longer happening.
Additionally, two anticipated characters, Ichinosuke Akiba and Saizo Akiba, who were slated to join the game's roster, will not be added. Regarding in-game purchases, refunds will be issued for Paid Enigma Entities used on items like Armed Support, Advanced Support, and the Support Contract – Revenio, with refunds processed after the Revenio contract expires. Furthermore, players can no longer purchase Enigma Entities or Daily Passes through the app or web store, though existing Enigma Entities can still be used until the game's official shutdown.
Why Did It Fail, So Soon?
Tribe Nine is a free-to-play extreme action RPG known for its unique style and worldbuilding. Despite its quality, the game faced challenges from the start. A major issue was the slow release schedule, with only one story chapter and one event released in the first three months. Moreover, the game lacked monetization incentives; players could build a competitive team with just one pull and didn't need duplicate characters, which, while beneficial for players, hurt the developers' revenue.
The decision to implement a gacha system seems to have been a risky move that ultimately did not pay off. Despite its early struggles, Tribe Nine remains playable until November 27th, 2025. If you haven't tried it yet, you can still experience the game on the Google Play Store.
