Today, Ubisoft’s official channel unveiled a new video dedicated to Assassin's Creed Shadows. You might expect this to be the launch trailer, but intriguingly, it's labeled as a TV commercial. This raises some eyebrows.
It's not that the video is subpar—far from it. It's smooth, cinematic, and visually stunning. The concern arises from Ubisoft's choice to promote the game heavily through traditional media. While there's nothing inherently wrong with this approach, the decision to upload a TV ad to their YouTube channel feels a bit off. Perhaps this is nitpicking, but such a strategy doesn't necessarily instill confidence in the game's release.
Setting speculation aside, the video effectively highlights the distinct gameplay and combat styles of the two main protagonists. The depiction of Japan is breathtaking, yet it's important to remember that you can't fully assess a game from a one-minute cinematic. We'll have to wait until the release to see the full picture.
