Unannounced Hogwarts Legacy Paid DLC Reportedly Canceled by WB

According to a recent report from Bloomberg, Warner Bros. has decided to cancel an unannounced paid DLC for their popular Harry Potter game, Hogwarts Legacy. The planned expansion was set to be released this year alongside a "Definitive Edition" of the game. However, the project was halted this week due to concerns that the content volume did not justify the price being considered, as per Bloomberg's sources. Warner Bros. did not provide a comment on this decision when approached by Bloomberg.

This cancellation comes amidst a broader restructuring of Warner Bros.' gaming division, driven by ongoing financial challenges. Earlier this year, the company canceled its planned Wonder Woman game and shut down the studio behind it, Monolith Productions, as well as WB San Diego and the MultiVersus studio, Player First Games. Additionally, layoffs were announced at Rocksteady just last September.

Despite these setbacks, Warner Bros. continues to emphasize the importance of Hogwarts Legacy and the Harry Potter franchise as key assets. The company has repeatedly stated that a sequel to Hogwarts Legacy is "one of the biggest priorities" as it aims to focus on fewer but more significant franchises. The original game has achieved impressive sales, surpassing 30 million copies sold.
