Universe for Sale Is a New Visual Novel Set in a Bizarre Bazaar on Planet Jupiter

Mar 05,25

Akupara Games and Tmesis Studio's latest adventure game, Universe for Sale, is now available. Following the success of titles like The Darkside Detective series and Zoeti earlier this year, Akupara Games delivers another intriguing experience.

Is the Cosmos Truly for Sale?

The game unfolds on a Jupiter space station, a bizarre marketplace shrouded in acid rain and mystery. Orangutans with surprising intellect work the docks, while cultists barter flesh for enlightenment. The universe itself is on offer, thanks to Lila, a woman with the remarkable ability to conjure universes from her hand.

The game begins in the impoverished mining colony shantytown. You play as the Master, a skeletal cultist from the Cult of Detachment – a character both unsettling and captivating.

Exploring the ramshackle colony, with its quirky tea shops and oddities, you encounter Honin's Tea House, Lila's establishment. Lila's enigmatic nature gradually unfolds as you shift between her perspective and the Master's throughout the game.

Playing as Lila involves creating universes in a captivating mini-game, blending ingredients to produce mesmerizing visual worlds. The Master's journey delves into the Cult of Detachment's philosophies and encounters with the Church of Many Gods.

The narrative unfolds gradually, prompting players to theorize about the underlying events. Each character, be it human, skeletal, or robotic, possesses a unique story, and the richly detailed world invites exploration.
