World of Warcraft China is adding two stunning new mounts: the Blazing Royal Fire Hawk and the Golden Ashes of Al'ar. These aren't just any mounts; they're reimagined versions of the incredibly rare Pureblood Fire Hawk and Ashes of Al'ar, previously only obtainable through extremely difficult raid encounters. While currently exclusive to China, their arrival marks another exciting development following the renewed partnership between NetEase and Blizzard. This partnership brought beloved titles like World of Warcraft, Diablo IV, and Overwatch 2 back to Chinese players, celebrated with events like the unveiling of a Lighforged Gorehowl statue and the release of the teleporting Xiao Liu pet.

These new mounts, available from January 15th, are set to be usable in both modern and Classic WoW.

New Chinese World of Warcraft Promotional Mounts:

  • Blazing Royal Fire Hawk
  • Golden Ashes of Al'ar

The Blazing Royal Fire Hawk, while initially appearing similar to the Pureblood Fire Hawk (a rare drop from Ragnaros in WoW: Cataclysm's Firelands raid), boasts a unique feature: auspicious clouds (xiangyun) subtly animate within its wings while in flight. These clouds, symbols of peace, immortality, and good fortune, hold deep cultural significance in China. The Golden Ashes of Al'ar, a resplendent gilded version of the original Ashes of Al'ar (dropped by Kael'thas Sunstrider in The Burning Crusade's The Eye raid), features a stylish black saddle and evocative flavor text referencing Kael'thas' iconic line: "The golden Al'ar, beloved pet of Kael'thas Sunstrider, proves that death is merely a setback."

The Blazing Royal Fire Hawk is obtainable through an event called the Treasure Workshop, details of which are yet to be fully revealed. The Golden Ashes of Al'ar, however, is acquired from Landro’s Loot Box, costing ¥200 (approximately $27). This loot box contains one of eight items, including other coveted prizes like the X-51 Nether Rocket X-TREME and the extremely rare Swift Spectral Tiger (from World of Warcraft's discontinued TCG). Players can even team up, earning bonus crates for reaching specific spending milestones.

While there's currently no indication of an international release for these mounts, their stunning designs are sure to capture the attention of WoW players worldwide. For now, players outside of China will have to admire these magnificent steeds from afar.
