World of Warcraft's Plunderstorm Event Faces Unexpected Delays

The highly anticipated return of World of Warcraft's Plunderstorm event has been delayed due to unforeseen technical difficulties. While initially slated for January 14th, 2025, Blizzard has yet to announce a revised launch time.

Plunderstorm, a popular pirate-themed battle royale mode introduced during the Dragonflight expansion in 2024, was set to return with both original and new rewards. However, unexpected issues arose during the planned server maintenance, forcing an extension beyond the initial eight-hour window. Community Manager Kaivax confirmed the delay, stating that the team is working to resolve the problems as quickly as possible. The goal remains to launch Plunderstorm before the end of January 14th, but a concrete timeframe is unavailable.

When Will Plunderstorm Launch?

  • Currently unknown, but targeted for completion before the end of January 14th, 2025, pending resolution of unforeseen technical issues.

In the meantime, World of Warcraft's regular servers are operational. Players can engage in other activities, such as completing Siren Isle weeklies, participating in the Turbulent Timeways event, or pursuing other content within the game.

The upcoming Plunderstorm iteration includes new features like the Plunderstore and an in-game event interface. These additions may be contributing to the current complications.

Despite the delay, the Plunderstorm Twitch Drops campaign remains active. Viewers can earn the Coward’s Azure Target back transmog by watching four hours of any World of Warcraft Twitch stream before February 4th at 10 AM PST. The streamer doesn't need to be playing Plunderstorm for viewers to qualify.
