Warner Bros. Discovery Confirms Hogwarts Legacy Sequel
A Sequel Expected Within a Few Years
Warner Bros. Discovery's confirmation of a sequel to the hit action RPG, Hogwarts Legacy (which sold over 24 million copies), came during Bank of America’s 2024 Media, Communications & Entertainment Conference, as reported by Variety. CFO Gunnar Wiedenfels stated that a sequel is a top priority for the company, expected to launch within the next couple of years. He emphasized the significant growth potential this sequel represents for the company's gaming division.
"A successor to Hogwarts Legacy is undoubtedly one of our highest priorities for the next few years," Wiedenfels explained. "We anticipate a substantial contribution to growth from our games business, and this sequel is a key part of that strategy."
Earlier this year, David Haddad of Warner Bros. Games highlighted the game's remarkable replayability in an interview with Variety, noting its strong appeal to fans. "The high number of players returning for multiple playthroughs," Haddad said, "is a testament to the game's success." He emphasized that the game's commercial performance and replayability are not its only achievements; the game's ability to bring the Harry Potter world to life in a new and engaging way for gamers resonated deeply with players.
Haddad believes this aspect of the game is the reason for its extraordinary success and its position as the year's top-selling game. He added, "This is a position usually occupied by established franchises' sequels, so we're incredibly proud to have achieved this."
Game8 was particularly impressed by Hogwarts Legacy's stunning visuals, calling it the most visually impressive Harry Potter experience to date. For a more detailed review, please visit our review page (link below).
