TLOU音楽監督、シーズン4のリリースをちらりと明かす
The excitement surrounding The Last of Us on HBO is reaching new heights, as composer Jake Staley has officially confirmed that at least two more seasons are in the works — a clear signal that the story isn’t ending anytime soon.
Speaking on The Last of Us: Savage Starlight podcast, Staley stated with certainty:
"There will definitely be two more seasons, no doubt about it. At minimum. That's all I can share right now."
This announcement aligns with earlier statements from showrunner Craig Mazin, who recently emphasized that a fourth season may be essential to properly close the narrative arc drawn from the acclaimed The Last of Us video games by Naughty Dog. While Season 3 might be expanded in scope, Mazin made it clear:
"It's impossible to finish this story in just three seasons."
He also noted that attempting to wrap up the full saga in only three seasons would require an unrealistic length — suggesting that the story demands more time, more depth, and greater emotional payoff.
HBO has already celebrated the show’s massive global success. Since Season 1 wrapped, the series has reached over 90 million viewers worldwide, with Season 2 delivering a notable spike in viewership. Though Season 2’s finale saw lower ratings, executives attributed the dip to the Memorial Day holiday weekend, not waning interest.
Now, as the creative team continues to shape the series' future, they’re keeping fans guessing — particularly about the fates of beloved characters. In a recent chat at IGN Live, Mazin and co-creator Neil Druckmann revealed they’re still deciding how much — or how little — key characters will appear in upcoming seasons. This ambiguity has only fueled speculation: Will Joel’s legacy loom large? Could Ellie’s journey take a darker turn? Is there room for new allies and enemies in the post-pandemic world?
The team also discussed how they crafted some of the most powerful scenes in the series:
- Joel’s death sequence, which redefined the emotional core of the show.
- The terrifying horde attack, a masterclass in tension and sound design.
- The heart-wrenching planetarium scene, a haunting meditation on love, loss, and memory.
With such meticulous storytelling and a proven ability to honor the source material while carving its own path, The Last of Us is poised to become one of HBO’s most enduring franchises.
So while fans wait for official word on Season 3's premiere and what lies beyond, one thing is certain:
The journey isn’t over. It’s only just beginning.
🔔 Stay tuned — The Last of Us Season 3 is coming, and its story might stretch across four seasons, or more.
