Awesome Games Done Quick 2025 surpasses fundraising goals, exceeding $2.5 Million for cancer research.

The Prevent Cancer Foundation benefited from the incredible success of Awesome Games Done Quick (AGDQ) 2025, a speedrunning marathon held from January 5th to 13th. The event raised over $2.5 million, a figure exceeding the 2024 total by more than $100,000. This substantial donation will support the foundation's mission of early cancer detection, prevention, research, and public awareness initiatives.

AGDQ, a prominent annual winter event hosted by Games Done Quick (GDQ), featured a diverse lineup of speedruns spanning various game genres, including notable runs of Crazy Taxi, Super Metroid, and Pikmin. The event's success builds upon GDQ's long-standing partnership with the Prevent Cancer Foundation, with previous GDQ events collectively raising over $26 million. The 2025 event, held in Pittsburgh, kicked off with a swift Pikmin run.

A standout moment was a creative Crazy Taxi speedrun by Chuckles825, featuring a live band performing covers of the game's copyrighted music to avoid streaming complications. This innovative approach generated over $24,000 in donations. The event concluded with a thrilling randomized four-player race of Super Metroid.

Looking ahead, GDQ will continue its charitable efforts with Summer Games Done Quick 2025, scheduled for July 6th in Minneapolis, benefiting Doctors Without Borders. This demonstrates GDQ's ongoing commitment to raising funds for vital causes through the power of speedrunning.
