Alicia Silverstone Returns for Clueless Sequel Series

As if they could resist putting Alicia Silverstone back in the yellow and plaid. The iconic actress is reportedly set to reprise her starring role as Cher Horowitz in a Clueless sequel series for Peacock.

The series, which is currently in development with the streamer, has kept plot details under wraps. The only information available so far includes Silverstone's involvement, the fact that the show will continue the story from the beloved 1995 film, and details about the creative team. It's important to note that this new project differs from the Clueless spin-off Peacock was planning in 2020.

Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, renowned for co-creating the original Gossip Girl series and executive producing its reboot, will write the series alongside Jordan Weiss. Together, they will also executive produce the show, joined by Amy Heckerling, the original writer-director of Clueless, and Robert Lawrence, the film's original producer. CBS Studios and Universal Television are also on board to produce.

This isn't the first time Clueless has been adapted for the small screen. Following the movie's success, a television version aired on ABC and UPN from 1996 to 1999, starring Rachel Blanchard as Cher instead of Silverstone.

Silverstone recently reprised her role as Cher in a 2023 Super Bowl commercial for Rakuten, indicating her eagerness to step back into Cher's iconic wardrobe. It's no surprise she's excited to return to this beloved character.
