Alienware's Area-51 Now Supports RTX 5090 Graphics Card
Earlier this year, Dell revitalized the iconic Alienware Area-51 lineup of prebuilt gaming PCs. Initially, configurations were limited to a single graphics card option - the RTX 5080. Now, gamers have a thrilling new choice: they can equip their Alienware Area-51 with an Intel Core Ultra 9 285K CPU and the formidable Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 GPU, starting at $5,499.99. What's more, you won't have to wait long for your new system; Dell anticipates shipping in early April.

$5,499.99 at Alienware
The $5,500 base configuration for the Alienware Area-51 gaming PC, featuring the RTX 5090 GPU, is packed with impressive specs. It includes the Intel Core Ultra 9 285K CPU, 32GB of DDR5-6400MHz RAM, and a 2TB NVMe SSD. The Core Ultra 9 285K is Intel's latest flagship CPU, delivering exceptional performance for both gaming and workstation tasks. Although it doesn't surpass the performance of the i9-14900K as hoped, it remains the best Intel has to offer currently. The processor is efficiently cooled by a 360mm all-in-one liquid cooler, and the system is powered by a robust 1,500W 80Plus Platinum-rated power supply.
New for 2025: The Alienware Area-51 Chassis
Dell showcased the revamped Alienware Area-51 gaming PC at CES 2025. The new chassis retains a familiar look but features significant aesthetic and cooling improvements along with updated components. The I/O panel has been moved to the top of the case, and the tempered glass window now covers the entire side panel, eliminating the need for side vents. Air intakes are now positioned at the bottom and front of the case, promoting a positive airflow design that helps keep the interior less dusty. The internal components have been updated with a new motherboard, faster RAM, and a more powerful power supply to support the latest generation of CPUs and GPUs.
The RTX 5090 Is the Most Powerful Graphics Card Ever
The Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 has established itself as the most powerful consumer GPU available. While Nvidia has focused on software enhancements, AI features, and DLSS 4 technology to boost gameplay performance, the RTX 5090 still offers a significant 25%-30% increase in raster performance compared to the RTX 4090. Additionally, it boasts more (32GB vs 24GB) and faster (GDDR7 vs GDDR6) VRAM. However, finding the RTX 5090 at its retail price is challenging, with units currently selling for $3,500-$4,000 on eBay.
Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 FE Review by Jackie Thomas
"The Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 has officially surpassed the RTX 4090 in performance, albeit with a smaller generational leap than in previous iterations. In terms of traditional non-AI gaming performance, the RTX 5090 offers one of the smallest improvements we've seen recently. However, for games compatible with DLSS 4, the performance gains are substantial, although you must accept that 75% of the frames are generated by AI."
