"Avatar Aang Magic Cards Unveiled: Sneak Peek at New The Last Airbender Set"
Wizards of the Coast made a splash at MagicCon Las Vegas 2025 by unveiling its highly anticipated Magic: The Gathering (MTG) crossover with Avatar: The Last Airbender, offering fans a first look at the stunning art and powerful abilities of the upcoming Avatar Aang and Aang, Master of Elements cards.
The reveal featured a captivating time-lapse that showcased the intricate, hand-drawn artwork behind Aang’s transformation into the MTG universe. The first card, Avatar Aang, is a Legendary Creature – Human Avatar Ally, designed to reflect his role as the unifying force of the four elements. Its ability reads: “Whenever you waterbend, earthbend, firebend, or airbend, draw a card. Then, if you’ve done all four this turn, transform Avatar Aang.” This mechanic captures the essence of balance and mastery central to Aang’s character.
The second card, Aang, Master of Elements, takes on a more cosmic and powerful form as a Legendary Creature – Avatar Ally. Depicting Aang tapping into the full scope of his Avatar state, this card’s ability states: “At the beginning of each upkeep, you may transform Aang, Master of Elements. If you do, you gain 4 life, draw four cards, put four +1/+1 counters on him, and he deals 4 damage to each opponent.” It’s a game-changing transformation that mirrors his ultimate potential in the animated series.
