CoD: Black Ops 6 Gears Up for Challenge-Tracking Enhancement

Jan 18,25

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is getting a much-requested feature: in-game challenge tracking. Treyarch Studios confirmed the development of this UI improvement, addressing player disappointment over its absence from launch, unlike its inclusion in 2023's Modern Warfare 3.

While a release date remains unannounced, the upcoming Season 2 update later this month hints at a potential near-term arrival. This news follows a January 9th update focusing on bug fixes for Multiplayer and Zombies modes. The update notably reversed a controversial Zombies change, restoring the original round timing and zombie spawn mechanics in Directed Mode following community feedback.

Challenge Tracking on the Way

Treyarch's Twitter confirmation directly responded to player requests for in-game challenge tracking. The functionality, popular in Modern Warfare 3, is now "in the works." This is particularly beneficial for players pursuing Mastery camos, enabling real-time progress monitoring without needing to exit matches. The anticipated functionality will mirror Modern Warfare 3's system, allowing players to select a challenge (e.g., a headshot camo) and view live progress within the game's UI.

Further Improvements in Development

Beyond challenge tracking, Treyarch also confirmed development of separate HUD settings for Multiplayer and Zombies modes, addressing player frustration with constant HUD adjustments between game modes. This feature is also currently under development.
