Feral Interactive Releases Imperium Update for ROME: Total War
The classic strategy game, *ROME: Total War*, which made its way to Android in 2018, has just received a significant free update from Feral Interactive. Dubbed the Imperium Update, it introduces a host of gameplay tweaks, control enhancements, and quality-of-life improvements that promise to elevate your gaming experience. Fans of the standalone expansions, *Barbarian Invasion* and *Alexander*, can look forward to similar updates rolling out next week.
What Does the Imperium Update Bring to ROME: Total War?
The Imperium Update incorporates some of the most acclaimed features from Feral's newer mobile titles, including *Total War: MEDIEVAL II* and *EMPIRE*. A standout addition is the introduction of three new control options: Positioning Mode, Melee Mode, and Automatic Deselection. These modes enhance your command over units, making battles more strategic and precise. Now, you can effortlessly move your armies, agents, or fleets by tapping and holding, eliminating the need for manually dragging paths.
Positioning Mode allows for meticulous unit placement by simply tapping and holding, while the Group Grid feature streamlines managing unit groups with a collapsible selection menu. Melee Mode introduces the ability for ranged units to switch to close combat when the situation demands it.
A major highlight of the update is the Command Slowdown feature, which automatically slows the game when you're issuing complex orders, ensuring you can execute your strategies with precision. Additionally, for the first time, the game now supports keyboard and mouse on Android devices, as well as iPads, enhancing the control experience.
The minimap has also been revamped to resemble that of *MEDIEVAL II*, with smoother zooming and navigation. A new reset button offers a quick way to return to the default view, making it easier to manage the battlefield.
The Imperium Update is now available for download on the Google Play Store for those who own *ROME: Total War* on Android. Keep an eye out for the updates coming to *Barbarian Invasion* and *Alexander* next week.
