Final Fantasy XVI's PC Debut and Future Implications
Square Enix has officially announced the PC launch of Final Fantasy XVI for September 17th. This release isn't just a port; it signifies a potential paradigm shift for the series, with Takai hinting at the possibility of future titles launching concurrently on PC and consoles.
The PC version will be available for $49.99, with a Complete Edition priced at $69.99, including the "Echoes of the Fallen" and "The Rising Tide" expansions. A playable demo is currently available, allowing players to experience the prologue and a challenging combat mode ("Eikonic Challenge"). Progress from the demo carries over to the full game.
In an interview with Rock Paper Shotgun, Takai highlighted the PC version's enhanced capabilities, stating, "we’ve increased the frame rate cap to 240fps, and you can choose from various upscaling technologies such as NVIDIA DLSS3, AMD FSR, and Intel XeSS."
With the PC launch imminent, now is the perfect time to revisit our review of the console version, which praised it as a "good step in the right direction for the series overall."
