League of Legends Reverses Course on Unpopular Changes Following Player Feedback

Responding to significant player feedback, Riot Games has announced a series of reversals to recently implemented changes in League of Legends (LoL). These adjustments, detailed in a February 27, 2025 developer update and accompanying video, aim to address player concerns and improve the overall gaming experience.

The Return of Hextech Chests

Central to the update is the reinstatement of Hextech Chests. Riot acknowledged that the removal of this feature negatively impacted player satisfaction, stating that the chests were more than just loot; they were a key element of the game's reward system. Beginning with patch 25.05, players can earn up to 10 chests and keys per act – eight from the free pass and two via the Honor system.

Delayed Exalted Mordekaiser Skin and Further Adjustments

The highly anticipated Exalted Mordekaiser skin, along with the entire Exalted skin line, has been delayed to allow for further refinement and to better meet player expectations. This also means the planned release of an Exalted skin in every act this year will not occur.

In response to player feedback regarding Mythic Essence availability, one non-Prestige skin will be replaced with 25 Mythic Essence in the pass. Additionally, recognizing concerns about Blue Essence and champion shard acquisition, Riot is reducing the Blue Essence cost for all champions by 50%, effective with patch 25.05.

The Clash game mode, previously slated for less frequent events, will return to a monthly schedule. March will feature an ARURF Clash, followed by a standard Summoner's Rift Clash in April.

The Revival of Popular Shops

Popular in-game shops, Your Shop and the Blue Essence Emporium, will make their return this year, scheduled for 25.06 and 25.07 respectively.

Riot emphasized their commitment to ongoing feedback and iterative improvements, highlighting these changes as a crucial step in refining the game and making it more enjoyable for players. League of Legends remains free-to-play on PC. For the latest updates, visit our League of Legends page.
