This special edition not only brings you the acclaimed original game but also enhances it with features tailored for the Nintendo Switch 2. - $79.99 at Target - Get it at Target
- $79.00 at Walmart - Get it at Walmart
- $79.99 at GameStop - Get it at GameStop
You might notice the price tag is a bit higher than what you're used to seeing for video games. That's because Nintendo has opted for a variable pricing model with their Switch 2 titles. The original Tears of the Kingdom was one of the few Switch games to break the $69.99 barrier. With the Switch 2 Edition, Nintendo is maintaining that base price and tacking on an additional $10 for the enhanced experience. Personally, I'm not thrilled about the price hike.
Upgrade Pack Is Also Available Separately
This version of the game bundles the original Switch game with the Switch 2 Edition upgrade pack. If you're already the proud owner of the original game, you can snag the upgrade pack separately for just $10, helping you save some cash.
Upgrade Pack Is Free with Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack
For those who own Tears of the Kingdom and are subscribed to Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack, the upgrade pack comes at no extra cost. It's included as part of your subscription, making it a sweet deal for members.
What is The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition?
This package includes the full original Switch game The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, along with the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition upgrade pack. Expect upgraded performance with faster frame rates, quicker load times, enhanced resolution, and richer textures. Simply put, the game looks and runs better on the Nintendo Switch 2 than it ever did on the original Switch.
From our original 10/10 review of Tears of the Kingdom: “The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is an unfathomable follow-up to one of the greatest games ever made, somehow improving upon it in nearly every way – be that with simple quality-of-life improvements, a genuinely exciting story, or wildly creative new building mechanics that make you rethink what is possible. It both revamps old ground and introduces vast new areas so immense it somehow makes me wonder if Breath of the Wild was actually all that big, with an almost alarming number of tasks to complete, mysteries to discover, and delightful distractions to keep you from ever reaching that place you naively thought you were headed. Nintendo has followed up a triumph with a triumph, expanding and evolving a world that already felt full beyond expectation and raising the bar ever higher into the clouds.”
