Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP's Resurgence: Over 200,000 Copies Sold!

The remastered Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP, released late last year, has reportedly surpassed 200,000 units sold. This success comes despite initial launch challenges, including technical issues and criticism regarding content changes. The strong sales figures demonstrate significant player demand for this action-packed title.

Developed originally by Grasshopper Manufacture (known for the No More Heroes series), Lollipop Chainsaw is a signature chainsaw-wielding, zombie-slaying adventure. While the original developers didn't helm the remaster, Dragami Games delivered a visually enhanced experience with added quality-of-life improvements.

This sales milestone, announced via a tweet from Dragami Games, covers all current and last-gen consoles, as well as PC. The achievement comes several months after the September 2024 release.

Celebrating Success: Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP's Sales Triumph

Players step into the shoes of Juliet Starling, a cheerleader fighting a zombie horde at her high school. Using her trusty chainsaw, she battles through hordes of undead and unique bosses in thrilling hack-and-slash combat, reminiscent of titles like Bayonetta.

The original 2012 release on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 achieved even greater success, selling over one million copies. The game's unique appeal likely stemmed from the collaboration between renowned game designer Goichi Suda and James Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy), who contributed to the game's narrative.

While future DLC or a sequel remains unannounced, Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP's sales success bodes well for remasters of other cult classic games. This positive trend is further evidenced by the recent release of Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered, bringing another Grasshopper Manufacture title to modern platforms.
