Marvel Rivals Condemns Cheating, Issues Apology for Injustice
NetEase's Marvel Rivals mistakenly bans innocent players. The developer, NetEase, issued a public apology for incorrectly banning numerous players who were using compatibility layers like those for macOS, Linux, and Steam Deck. These players were mistakenly flagged as cheaters during a recent anti-cheat initiative. The bans have since been lifted.
The incident highlights the challenges of implementing effective anti-cheat measures while avoiding false positives. NetEase stated that they have identified the root cause of the issue and are working to prevent similar occurrences. Players experiencing wrongful bans are encouraged to contact customer support.
Separately, players are requesting the implementation of in-game character bans across all ranks. Currently, this feature is only available to Diamond rank and above. Many players argue that extending this feature to lower ranks would improve gameplay balance and provide a more enjoyable experience for all players. NetEase has yet to respond to this request.
