Monster Hunter Wilds Aims for Broader PC Accessibility
Console Performance Goals Unveiled
A December 19th livestream featured director Yuya Tokuda and other *Monster Hunter Wilds* developers, discussing post-Open Beta Test (OBT) improvements. They announced performance targets for consoles: PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X will offer "Prioritize Graphics" (4K, 30fps) and "Prioritize Framerate" (1080p, 60fps) modes. Xbox Series S will run natively at 1080p, 30fps. A framerate mode rendering bug has been resolved, resulting in performance enhancements. While enhanced graphics are promised for the PS5 Pro version at launch, specific details remain undisclosed.
PC performance will naturally vary based on hardware and settings. While initial specs were previously released, Capcom confirmed efforts to lower minimum requirements for wider compatibility. Further details on these reduced minimum specs, along with the possibility of a PC benchmark tool, will be revealed closer to release.
Potential for a Second Open Beta Test
The developers are considering a second open beta test, primarily to give players who missed the first one a chance to experience the game. However, this potential second beta would not include the improvements discussed in the livestream; these changes will be implemented in the full release.
The livestream also covered adjustments to hitstop and sound effects for a more impactful feel, friendly fire mitigation, and weapon tweaks and improvements, with special attention given to the Insect Glaive, Switch Axe, and Lance.
Monster Hunter Wilds is scheduled for release on February 28th, 2025, for PC (Steam), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
