The Paper Spinoff Renewed for Season 2 Before Season 1 Premiere

Hold the front page — the new Office spinoff, The Paper, is making waves on TV. In fact, the show has already been greenlit for a second season.

The renewal came just one day before the series debuts on Peacock on September 4. This move follows significant early buzz, prompting NBCUniversal to commit to Season 2 even before premiere viewership data arrives.

Domhnall Gleeson, who fills a Michael Scott-esque role, and Sabrina Impacciatore, acclaimed for her performance in The White Lotus Season 2, announced the renewal during a Today show appearance to promote the premiere.

The timing aligns perfectly for co-creator Greg Daniels, who is already developing scripts for the next season alongside co-executive producer and showrunner Michael Koman. The duo aims to release Season 2 around the same time in 2026.

“We definitely have ideas,” Daniels told Variety recently. “We’ve been discussing potential Season 2 storylines, and it will be interesting to see how audiences respond. Feedback from within the company, critics, and acquaintances has been strong, but you never know how the wider community of Office fans will react.”

Peacock will release all 10 episodes of Season 1 starting September 4. The season connects to the original series by featuring the same documentary crew that filmed Dunder Mifflin Scranton, now tracking Gleeson’s team of journalists.
