Pokemon TCG Pocket Has Good News About Future Expansions
Summary
Pack Hourglasses will remain a valuable asset in future Pokémon TCG Pocket expansions, continuing to reduce booster pack opening delays. Players can confidently continue stockpiling them.
The Pokémon Company has officially confirmed the continued use of Pack Hourglasses in upcoming Pokémon TCG Pocket expansions, dispelling rumors suggesting their obsolescence.
Launched in October 2024, Pokémon TCG Pocket quickly gained popularity, largely replacing Pokémon TCG Live for many players. The recent addition of the Mythical Island booster pack, featuring 68 new cards, followed the initial Genetic Apex packs (226 cards across three packs). With another expansion anticipated in January 2025, speculation arose regarding the future utility of Pack Hourglasses. However, these concerns have been addressed.
Screen Rant reported on a statement from The Pokémon Company confirming the ongoing functionality of Pack Hourglasses. These hourglasses will consistently reduce booster pack opening delays by one hour, regardless of the expansion. This announcement counters previous suggestions of a new expansion-specific currency. While such a currency may be introduced in the future, it's not part of the upcoming expansion. This confirmation allows players to continue accumulating Pack Hourglasses for use with the next pack.
Pokémon TCG Pocket Pack Hourglasses: A Permanent Fixture
Without Pack Hourglasses, players replenish Pack Stamina at 12-hour intervals, allowing for two booster pack openings per day. Pack Hourglasses are obtainable through daily challenges and the daily replenishing Complimentary Item Set in the shop. Each hourglass reduces the Stamina wait by one hour, with twelve hourglasses needed to instantly open a pack. Beyond Pack Hourglasses, the game utilizes various currencies including Wonder Hourglasses, Special, Event, and standard Shop Tickets, Poké Gold, and Pack Points.
Initial concerns about Pack Hourglasses becoming obsolete in the next expansion have been alleviated by The Pokémon Company's statement. Given the game's success, further expansions are highly likely.
