Pokémon Pokopia Spin-off Evokes Animal Crossing

Nintendo has unveiled an exciting new spin-off called Pokémon Pokopia, a life simulation game where you gather materials and craft furniture to design your surroundings. Does that ring a bell?

Much like Animal Crossing, Pokopia promises a laid-back, creative experience. In this game, you’ll slowly learn and apply Pokémon skills to build a cozy home for yourself and your Pokémon companions.

You play as a human-shaped Ditto, gradually acquiring abilities from other creatures. For instance, learning from the Grass-type Bulbasaur lets you cultivate plants, while Squirtle’s Water-type skills allow you to water them. You can reshape the land by learning to punch terrain from Hitmonchan, or construct wooden items by picking up techniques from Timburr.

Though the full scope of the game’s world is still unknown, today’s debut trailer features the player using Scyther’s slashes to clear vegetation and Drilbur’s digging ability to alter a waterfall’s flow. Meanwhile, a Diglett seems to be tending a vegetable garden.

Later, the preview offers a look at a beach area and the inside of a more furnished home. A day-night cycle also appears to be part of the experience.

Today’s announcements covered a wide range of news, from Mario and Pokémon to Yoshi and Fire Emblem. For a complete overview, explore all the reveals from the September 2025 Nintendo Direct.
