Pokemon GO Unova Tour: Black and White Kyurem and Shiny Meloetta Debut!

Get ready, trainers! Black and White Kyurem are finally arriving in Pokémon GO as part of the Pokémon GO Tour: Unova, along with a Shiny Meloetta! This guide details how to capture and fuse these powerful Legendary Pokémon.

New Legendary Pokémon in Pokémon GO

Black and White Kyurem's Grand Entrance

Following the December 2024 announcement of the February 2025 Unova Tour, Niantic has revealed the highly anticipated debut of Black Kyurem, White Kyurem, and Shiny Meloetta.

From February 21st to 23rd, 2025, attendees of the in-person events in New Taipei City, Taiwan, and Los Angeles, USA, will have the exclusive opportunity to catch and fuse Kyurem into its Black and White forms. Capturing the base Kyurem requires defeating either Black or White Kyurem in five-star raids.

Once you've caught Kyurem, you can fuse it with either Zekrom or Reshiram to obtain its alternate forms. Fusion unlocks powerful new attacks: Freeze Shock (Black Kyurem) and Ice Burn (White Kyurem). Here's the fusion breakdown:

• Black Kyurem: 1,000 Volt Fusion Energy, 30 Kyurem Candy, and 30 Zekrom Candy
• White Kyurem: 1,000 Blaze Fusion Energy, 30 Kyurem Candy, and 30 Reshiram Candy

Earn Fusion Energy by defeating Black or White Kyurem in raids. Reversion to the base Kyurem form is free – no Fusion Energy or Candy is required. Shiny Kyurem, Reshiram, and Zekrom will also have increased encounter rates during the event.

Trainers unable to attend the in-person events can still participate in the global event, Pokémon GO Tour: Unova - Global, from March 1st to 2nd, 2025. This free event requires no ticket.

Meloetta, the Melody Pokémon, Joins the Celebration

The Pokémon GO Tour: Unova also marks the first appearance of Shiny Meloetta! In-person event ticket holders can complete a Masterwork Research to encounter this elusive Pokémon. Don't worry about time constraints; the Masterwork Research won't expire.

Iconic Legendaries from Pokémon Black and White 2

Kyurem, Reshiram, Zekrom, and Meloetta originally debuted in Pokémon Black and White, the fifth generation of Pokémon games set in the Unova region. The first three are obtainable during the main storyline, while Meloetta is a post-game reward.
