Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2’s First Public Test Server Goes Live, Update 7.0 Patch Notes Reveal Huge Changes
The eagerly anticipated first public test server for Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is now live, offering players an early glimpse into the highly awaited Update 7.0 and its accompanying patch notes. In a community post, publisher Focus Entertainment and developer Saber Interactive have shared preliminary patch notes for the PTS version, which include most features of the 7.0 update. However, they've cautioned that the final 7.0 patch notes may differ, as the development team continues to address ongoing bug fixes.
For PC players participating in the PTS, there's a wealth of new content to explore. Update 7.0 introduces a new PvE mission called "Exfiltration," along with a new secondary weapon, the Inferno Pistol, available for the Vanguard, Sniper, and Heavy classes. Additionally, the update brings prestige ranks to PvE, private PvP lobbies, and a host of exciting customization options for Warhammer 40,000 enthusiasts. These include new colors like Volupus Pink and Thousand Sons Blue, Bulwark cloth recoloring, hands recoloring, and a 50% increase in customization rewards in PvP. The PTS also introduces the Imperial Fists Champion skin for the Tactical class and the Space Wolves Champion for the Vanguard class.
The update also features significant balance changes, with an expanded weapon arsenal in PvE allowing all classes to have a broader range of weapon choices. A notable change is that the Assault class can now use the Power Sword without requiring mods. Players should review the detailed patch notes below to understand the full scope of weapon adjustments.
A welcome gameplay change has been made to the Inferno Operation. Now, if a player reaches the assembly area in the final stage of the level, other players will be automatically teleported there after a short delay (with a notification at 1:30 and teleportation 15 seconds later). This addresses a long-standing griefing issue where players could indefinitely block progress by remaining outside the assembly area.
