Ghost of Yotei Gameplay Revealed, October Launch Nears
Sucker Punch Productions will present a Ghost of Yōtei gameplay deep dive in a dedicated State of Play event next month.
A PlayStation Blog post published after the June 2025 State of Play confirmed plans to showcase how the eagerly awaited samurai sequel has refined its mechanics. The Ghost of Tsushima follow-up made a short appearance toward the end of the presentation, primarily serving as a reminder that Sucker Punch is continuing development to hit its October launch window.
Though the brief glimpse of Ghost of Yōtei may have left some fans wanting more, the July State of Play gameplay deep dive should help ease the anticipation. While Sucker Punch's event does not yet have a confirmed date, it's expected to focus exclusively on Ghost of Yōtei and its "evolved gameplay mechanics—covering exploration, combat, and much more."
Sucker Punch officially announced its Ghost of Tsushima sequel last September, introducing players to new protagonist Atsu as she sets out on a violent journey across Japan in 1603. Although fans have been eagerly awaiting new story and gameplay details since the original game released in 2020, director Nate Fox has assured that the experience will remain “a respectful representation” of Japanese culture, much like its predecessor.
Ghost of Yōtei is scheduled to launch on October 2, 2025 for PS5. For a full recap of everything announced during the June 2025 State of Play, click here. In the meantime, you can catch up on everything we know so far about Ghost of Yōtei.
