Charlie Cox Reflects on Challenging 'Daredevil: Born Again' Episode

The journey from script to screen for Daredevil: Born Again involved numerous revisions, but one episode remained unchanged: Episode 5, which star Charlie Cox considers his least favorite of the season.

"I’m not sure if this is noteworthy, but one episode stayed exactly as it was," Cox shared in a recent interview with The Playlist.

"It’s the bank episode, filmed before the strike as part of the original draft. Personally, I wasn’t thrilled with it."

Cox told the outlet he resisted the episode’s direction as much as he could. The episode centers on Matt Murdock, aka Daredevil, caught in a bank heist while seeking a loan for the law firm he runs with Foggy Nelson (Elden Henson) and Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll).

"It felt dated, like something from the 1970s," Cox remarked. "Modern technology makes that scenario unlikely, and the theft device didn’t feel convincing."

Despite his reservations, Cox noted that fans embraced the episode wholeheartedly.

"I questioned it strongly, but I’ve heard from many fans who loved it. It shows how subjective taste is," Cox said. "Surprisingly, it’s one of Disney’s highest-rated episodes based on internal metrics."

Indeed, we found Episode 5 exceptional. In our Daredevil: Born Again Episodes 5 and 6 Review, we noted: "It’s remarkably well-crafted. I can’t recall the last time a Marvel show kept me smiling throughout and held my attention completely. This episode highlights what makes Matt Murdock such a compelling hero, even out of costume."
