Heroes of the Storm Revives Popular Mode
Heroes of the Storm's Brawl Mode: A Nostalgic Return
Heroes of the Storm is bringing back its beloved Heroes Brawl mode, rebranded as Brawl Mode, introducing a bi-weekly rotation of unique map challenges. This revival, nearly five years after the original mode's discontinuation, offers players a chance to revisit dozens of classic maps and experience revamped gameplay.
Initially launched in 2016 (as Arena Mode), Heroes Brawl provided weekly rotating challenges with diverse map layouts, objectives, and rule sets. Examples included all-Nova sniper duels and Arena versions of existing battlefields. Its eventual retirement in 2020 stemmed from the rising popularity of single-lane maps and maintenance difficulties.
Now, Brawl Mode is making its debut on the Public Test Realm (PTR), featuring a bi-weekly rotation (1st and 15th of each month) and a special chest reward for completing three matches per rotation. The PTR currently showcases the holiday-themed Snow Brawl.
The return of Heroes Brawl, coinciding with Heroes of the Storm's 10th anniversary (June 2nd, 2025), is a significant event for the game's community. Many players see this as a positive sign, potentially foreshadowing a broader revival of the MOBA.
