Duskbloods: Be Bloodsworn, Not Bloodborne Sequel

While players assume the role of Bloodsworn in The Duskbloods, this isn't Bloodborne 2. Explore FromSoftware's vision for their upcoming title and its unique gameplay elements.
FromSoftware Remains Committed to Single-Player Experiences
Developer Insights From Nintendo's Creator Voice Blog

Despite working on multiplayer projects, FromSoftware confirms they'll continue developing their signature single-player games alongside titles like The Duskbloods. This Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive, revealed during the April 2 Nintendo Direct, presents a PvPvE multiplayer experience with Soulslike elements. The announcement coincides with their other multiplayer project, Elden Ring's Nightreign expansion.
In Nintendo's Creator Voice blog published April 4, director Hidetaka Miyazaki clarified the studio's direction: "While this is fundamentally an online multiplayer title, this doesn't signal a company-wide shift toward multiplayer development." He emphasized, "We remain dedicated to creating traditional single-player experiences alongside these projects."
The Bloodsworn and Their Dark Power

Miyazaki explained the game's central theme revolves around special blood that grants superhuman abilities. Players control Bloodsworn - not traditional vampires, but enhanced beings competing for "The First Blood" during humanity's twilight across various historical periods.

The setting blends Gothic and Victorian aesthetics with early modern elements, as seen in the trailer featuring a train. Miyazaki noted, "Blood serves as a conceptual element - symbolizing history, power transmission, and transcended humanity rather than just physical injuries."
Diverse Character Roster and Multiplayer Structure

The game features over a dozen distinct characters with customizable options. Players start in a central hub to choose avatars and enter 8-player matches, earning customization rewards post-game. While most matches conclude with one survivor, some feature unique objectives like boss battles.

Miyazaki detailed: "Whether PvP or PvE, we designed challenges that allow skill development and meaningful accomplishment, particularly with our demanding boss encounters."

The game introduces special roles like "Destined Rivals" (seeking specific opponents) and "Destined Companions" (forming alliances) for enhanced gameplay. Miyazaki explained, "Blood customization assigns roles, enabling literal role-playing and dramatic encounters."
Set for a 2026 Switch 2 release, The Duskbloods promises more reveals ahead. For ongoing updates, follow our coverage below.
