Dead Space 3 concluded with several unanswered questions, particularly regarding Isaac Clarke's fate, leaving ample room for a compelling continuation. Following his departure from EA, Schofield spearheaded The Callisto Protocol, a spiritual successor to Dead Space. Although it didn't match Dead Space's commercial success, it established a foundation for potential future installments.
