inZOI Sells 1 Million Copies in Week, Krafton Eyes Long-Term Franchise
Krafton's latest venture, inZOI, has shattered sales records by selling 1 million copies within its first week, marking the fastest sales milestone ever for a game published by the South Korean giant. Launched on PC via Steam in Early Access on March 28, inZOI quickly made headlines, not just for its rapid success but also due to an unexpected in-game issue. Players discovered they could run over and kill children, which Krafton swiftly addressed and patched as an "unintended bug."
Despite this initial hiccup, inZOI has maintained a 'very positive' user review rating on Steam. The game also achieved a peak of 175,000 concurrent viewers on Twitch, securing the third spot in the Games category. Remarkably, inZOI soared to the top of Steam’s Global Top Sellers List by sales revenue just 40 minutes after its release.
The in-game user-generated content (UGC) sharing platform, Canvas, saw an impressive launch with over 1.2 million participants on the first day and more than 470,000 pieces of content uploaded. This engagement showcases the vibrant community surrounding inZOI.
IGN's Early Access review of inZOI awarded it a 6/10, commending its visual appeal and ambition but noting a lack of depth at launch. Krafton's proactive promotion and communication with the community prior to and following the release have been pivotal in building trust and momentum. The inZOI global showcase and demo build were particularly successful in generating high interest.
CEO CH Kim expressed gratitude and excitement for presenting inZOI to a global audience through Early Access, emphasizing Krafton's commitment to ongoing player communication and the development of inZOI as a long-term franchise IP.

Looking ahead, Krafton plans to enhance inZOI with future updates that will introduce new content, including mod support and new cities. All updates and DLC will be free until the game's full release. In response to player feedback, Krafton has committed to swiftly addressing reported issues through hotfixes throughout April. Acknowledging the scale of inZOI’s global community, Krafton admits to navigating some challenges in optimizing communication strategies, viewing this as a "next-level experience" and an opportunity for growth.
