A remake of The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion will have big changes to game mechanics

A purported remake of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, developed by Virtuos Studio using Unreal Engine 5, has been detailed by MP1st. The information, reportedly sourced from an anonymous developer's portfolio, reveals a significant departure from a simple remaster.

This Oblivion remake will reportedly feature a complete overhaul of core mechanics. Expect substantial changes to stamina management, stealth mechanics, attack blocking (drawing inspiration from Soulslike games to address the original's perceived shortcomings), archery, damage feedback, and the user interface. The damage calculation system will be reworked to include visible reactions to attacks, and the stamina system is expected to be more intuitive. UI and archery systems will also receive modernizations.

MP1st suggests that while initial plans may have involved a remaster (as hinted at in leaked Microsoft documents), the project has evolved into a full-fledged remake.

While sources confirm the Oblivion remake will not appear at the upcoming Developer_Direct, rumors suggest a potential release date within the current year.
