Palworld Live Service Model May Be PocketPair's Best Option

Pocketpair 首席执行官水户部卓郎在接受 ASCII Japan 采访时，讨论了 Palworld 的未来发展方向，特别是将其转型为 live service 游戏的可能性以及玩家的期望。
盈利可观，挑战亦大
在采访中，水户部卓郎明确表示，目前 Palworld 的未来发展方向尚未最终确定。
“当然，我们会更新 Palworld，添加新内容，”他说，Pocketpair 开发团队计划添加新地图、更多新伙伴以及团队副本，以保持游戏的新鲜感。“但对于 Palworld 的未来，我们正在考虑两种选择。”水户部补充道。
“要么我们完成 Palworld，将其作为一次性购买的完整游戏（B2P）发布；要么将其转型为 live service 游戏（采访中称为 LiveOps），”水户部解释道。B2P 模式是指玩家只需一次性付费即可获得完整游戏内容。而 live service 模式（也称为游戏即服务）通常采用持续发布付费内容的盈利模式。
“从商业角度来看，将 Palworld 转型为 live service 游戏将带来更多盈利机会，并有助于延长游戏生命周期。”然而，水户部指出，Palworld 最初并非设计为 live service 游戏，“所以如果我们选择这条路，肯定会面临挑战。”
水户部还表示，他们必须仔细考虑 Palworld 作为 live service 游戏对玩家的吸引力。“最重要的是要确定玩家是否想要这种模式。”他补充道，“通常，一款游戏必须已经是免费游戏（F2P），才能采用 live service 模式，然后才能添加付费内容，例如皮肤和战斗通行证。但 Palworld 是一款一次性购买的游戏（B2P），因此将其转换为 live service 游戏非常困难。”
他进一步解释说：“有很多游戏成功转型为 F2P 的例子，”他提到了《绝地求生》和《Fall Guys》等热门游戏，“但这两种游戏都花了数年时间才成功转型。虽然我理解 live service 模式对业务有利，但这并非易事。”
水户部表示，目前 Pocketpair 正在探索各种方法，以吸引更多玩家，同时让现有玩家满意。“我们也得到了关于实施广告盈利的建议，但前提是广告盈利很难适应，除非是一款手机游戏，”他补充道，并指出他不记得有哪些 PC 游戏从广告盈利中受益。他还谈到了他对 PC 玩家行为的观察，他说：“即使它对 PC 游戏有效，在 Steam 上玩游戏的玩家也会讨厌广告。很多用户在插入广告时会生气。”
“因此，目前我们正在仔细权衡 Palworld 应该采取的方向，”水户部总结道。目前，Palworld 仍处于抢先体验阶段，最近发布了最大的更新 Sakurajima，并推出了备受期待的 PvP 竞技场模式。
